The 2025 Met Gala delivered another unforgettable night of fashion, flair and cultural celebration, as some of the biggest names in entertainment hit the red carpet at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” honoured the legacy, creativity and impact of Black menswear and marked the first Gala since 2003 to spotlight menswear exclusively.
Inspired by a new exhibit at the Met’s Costume Institute showcasing the concept of the “Black dandy,” the event explored how tailoring, elegance and individuality have shaped Black identity across the Atlantic diaspora. The stars took that cue and ran with it, showing up in looks that fused classic tailoring with avant-garde expression.
Stars including Tyla, Burna Boy, Pharrell Williams, Doechii, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky stunned at the red carpet.
At this year’s Met Gala, Tyla made a striking appearance in a custom Jacquemus look styled by Law Roach that paid tribute to the late André Leon Talley. The outfit reimagined classic Black tailoring with a contemporary, artistic edge. Tyla wore a navy pinstriped corseted poplin dress paired with an oversized men’s shirt — both subtly embellished with sequined threads and delicate crystal fil coupé embroidery. The irregular, raw details added a surrealist feel, nodding to the aesthetic of Jacquemus. The ensemble balanced elegance with an intentionally unfinished quality, celebrating imperfection as a form of artistic expression. Tyla completed the look with a fresh head of soft blonde curls, rounding off a powerful red carpet moment.
The outfits weren’t just fashion statements, they were conversations about heritage, identity and representation.
As always, the Met Gala gave the world more than a few showstopping moments. But this year, it also gave the spotlight to the power of Black style and the artistry of self-expression.
