Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton SS-2027 Show Was A Luxury Surf Dream

IN A NUTSHELL

  • Pharrell Williams transformed Louis Vuitton’s latest menswear show into a surf inspired luxury fantasy
  • The collection merged tailoring, skate culture, surfwear and travel inspired design
  • A massive wave-beach installation and star studded guest list made it one of the season’s biggest fashion moments

When it comes to spectacle, few fashion houses can match Louis Vuitton right now. And under the direction of Pharrell Williams, the brand continues to push fashion presentations into full cultural moments.

For the Spring Summer 2027 menswear collection, Pharrell shifted his now signature dandy aesthetic toward surf and skate culture, blending laid back West Coast energy with Louis Vuitton’s longstanding travel heritage. The result was a wardrobe imagined for the modern jet setter, someone moving effortlessly from boardroom meetings to beachfront sunsets.

The collection explored a new take on luxury surfwear. Technical wetsuit references appeared throughout the runway, reworked into elevated tailoring and premium fabrics.

Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram featured heavily across diving inspired pieces, while weathered textures created the illusion of garments softened by years of sun, salt and travel.

Pharrell also continued his love affair with visual tricks and trompe l’oeil effects. Hoodies appeared naturally faded, denim carried shibori inspired indigo treatments and oversized outerwear featured intricate beadwork that echoed nautical ropes and maritime influences.

As the collection evolved, the mood became softer and more relaxed. Plush robe coats, towel textured layers and easy silhouettes captured the feeling of winding down after a day spent in the ocean. And we cannot miss on the big LV trunks that were pushed with trolleys as part of the show.

One of the biggest talking points was the introduction of new flat soled skate shoes. The low profile silhouette felt like a direct nod to classic California skate culture and Pharrell’s own roots within streetwear and skateboarding.

The show itself was just as ambitious.

Staged during a scorching Paris heatwave, Louis Vuitton transformed the grounds of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris into a luxury coastal escape. A giant curling wave measuring eight metres high and 37 metres wide dominated the landscape, pumping real water and cooling guests with a refreshing mist.

Sand covered the entire venue, while a boardwalk runway and luxury camper van completed the dreamlike travel narrative. Live performances from L’Orchestre du Pont Neuf and Voices of Fire added to the cinematic atmosphere.

The front row was equally impressive, featuring names such as Jeremy Allen White, Missy Elliott, Future, Quavo, ASAKE, Skepta, Wizkid, Victor Wembanyama, Jackson Wang and BamBam.

With fashion, travel, sport, music and environmental awareness all woven into one presentation, Pharrell once again proved that a Louis Vuitton runway show is about much more than clothes.
