IN A NUTSHELL
- GoTyme Bank has rebranded from TymeBank
- The digital bank now serves more than 12.5 million customers in South Africa
- A redesigned GoTyme app brings improved performance, security and a refreshed experience
TymeBank has made a new rebranded move to GoTyme Bank, ushering in a refreshed identity and a new digital experience through the redesigned GoTyme app.
The refreshed identity reflects the bank’s global alignment and its continued focus on delivering a modern, digital-first experience built around simplicity, transparency and affordability. Since launching publicly in 2019, GoTyme Bank has rapidly established itself as one of South Africa’s largest banks by customer numbers, surpassing 12.5 million users. According to the bank, that means roughly one in three eligible South Africans already has a GoTyme account.
The new brand identity aligns more closely with the bank’s global positioning while reinforcing its commitment to simple, transparent and affordable digital banking.
As part of the transition, the GoTyme Bank app went live in January as the bank began migrating customers in phases. The process has been carefully managed to prioritise stability, security and a seamless customer experience.
The revamped app introduces a cleaner interface, faster performance and enhanced security features, making it easier for users to save, spend, transfer money and manage their finances. The redesign reflects the bank’s focus on simplicity and human-centred design.
Importantly, existing customers do not need to open new accounts. Account balances, transaction histories and personal information have all been transferred to the new platform. Customers simply need to download the GoTyme Bank app and sign in using their current details to access their accounts.
Like many digital-first banks, GoTyme operates without traditional branches, relying instead on its mobile app, self-service kiosks located in retail stores and customer service hubs to support users.
With more than 12.5 million customers and a growing footprint, the rebrand marks another major milestone for one of South Africa’s most successful digital banking stories.
