For the first time ever, the world-renowned Montreux Jazz Festival is stepping onto African soil with the launch of Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek.
Taking place from 27 to 29 March 2026, the three-day experience will bring attendees a full-on experience of Jazz music, food and art, with full-day programming and a two-stage takeover. Originally held annually in Montreux Switzerland along the shores of Lake Geneva, the festival is widely regarded as the world’s second largest annual jazz gathering after the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
Across The Arches Main Stage and the Jazz Village, more than 30 artists will perform, blending global icons with celebrated local voices. Headliners include Robert Glasper with special guest Bilal, Salif Keita, Roisin Murphy, Ezra Collective, Mandisi Dyantyis and Thandiswa Mazwai. Saturday’s programme also features The Ploemies and Friends, Billy Monama’s Guitar Convergence and a powerful close with Glasper and Bilal in collaboration.
The Jazz Village brings its own magic. Friday includes performances by Madala Kunene and Stacey Kent, while Saturday highlights a Miles Davis centenary celebration featuring Eddie Henderson and Javon Jackson, alongside tributes such as Home at Last honouring Bheki Mseleku. The weekend also includes Msaki’s ENTROPY featuring Jesse Clegg and a set from Kyle Shepherd Trio.
The festival closes with a Sunday Slowdown along Huguenot Street, transforming the area into the Montreux Mile with open access performances, wine activations and laid back energy. Beyond the music, Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek extends into food, wine, art and immersive lifestyle experience.
