Apple Launches iPhone 17 Lineup and Ultra-Thin iPhone Air

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 family, introducing the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone Air. Headlined by the A19 Pro chip and Apple’s most advanced camera system to date, the lineup delivers record-breaking performance, brighter displays, and longer battery life.

iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max

The Pro lineup sets new standards in performance and photography.

  • Displays: Super Retina XDR with ProMotion (up to 120Hz), Always-On, and 3000 nits peak brightness — the brightest iPhone display yet. Sizes: 6.3″ (Pro) and 6.9″ (Pro Max).
  • Durability: Ceramic Shield 2 now protects both front and back, improving scratch and crack resistance.
  • Cameras: Triple 48MP Fusion system (Main, Ultra Wide, new Telephoto). A next-gen tetraprism Telephoto with a 56% larger sensor unlocks 8x optical zoom at 200mm, the longest on iPhone. Digital zoom reaches 40x.
  • Front Camera: New 18MP Center Stage with a square sensor, AI-enhanced group framing, landscape selfies, and 4K HDR video with Dual Capture.
  • Video Features: Industry-first support for ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, genlock, and integration with Final Cut Camera & Blackmagic workflows.

Storage options range from 256GB up to a massive 2TB on Pro Max. Available in deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver starting at $1,099 (Pro) and $1,199 (Pro Max).


iPhone 17

The standard iPhone 17 gets its biggest upgrade yet.

  • Display: Larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR with ProMotion, Always-On, thinner bezels, and 3000 nits brightness.
  • Camera System: For the first time, all rear cameras are 48MP, including a Fusion Main with 2x Telephoto and a new Ultra Wide delivering 4x the detail.
  • Video: 4K60 Dolby Vision with Cinematic & Action modes, plus new Spatial Audio recording.
  • Software: iOS 26 introduces a Bright Photographic Style for enhanced skin tones and vibrance.

Starts at 256GB storage (double last year’s base).

Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever — just 5.6mm — is here.

  • Build: Grade 5 titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 on both sides, precision-milled plateau design.
  • Display: 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR with ProMotion, Always-On, 3000 nits brightness, and thinner borders.
  • Camera: 48MP Fusion Main with four focal lengths (24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 48mm). Quad-pixel sensor with OIS and advanced Photonic Engine.
  • Front Camera: New 18MP Center Stage square sensor with group framing and 4K HDR Dual Capture.

Available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, starting at $999 (256GB).


AVAILABILITY

  • The new models will officially launch in South Africa at iStore on 19 September 2025.
