Instagram has released it’s brand-new app called Edits, designed users who want pro-level video creation straight from their phones. Think of it like CapCut, but plugged directly into Instagram’s world. The timing is interesting too, coming just months after the U.S. ban on TikTok and CapCut was announced.
Edits is a standalone app that lets you create, edit, and publish short-form videos with powerful tools. You can trim clips, add stickers, captions, music, and layer in text or voiceovers. Users can also animate still images using AI, play with green screens and overlays, and fine-tune videos down to single-frame precision.

The app also lets you shoot in high-quality up to 10 minutes long, with camera controls for frame rate, resolution, and even dynamic range. Editing audio is smoother too, with features that enhance vocals and cancel background noise. Captions can be auto-generated and fully customized for style.
Unlike some other platforms, Edits won’t slap a watermark on your exports, and you can post your videos directly to Instagram or save them for other platforms. Plus, it keeps all your drafts and content organized in one place.
The app is now available to download for iPhone users on Apple’s App Store.
